Tean's Gourmet Spicy Belacan Paste is a Singaporean condiment made from Geragau, or krill, that have been salted, dried, and fermented. These tiny, shrimp-like crustaceans are traditionally hand-caught in the waters off the Malaysian port cities of Penang and Malacca. They are considered an essential ingredient in dishes across Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Belacan is often made into Sambal Belacan by mixing the krill with chilli, lime, salt, and sugar.
